Privacy
Your desktop stays yours.
MacScapes has no account, no analytics and no tracking. Here is everything the app and this website do with data, in plain words.

The app
- Rendering happens on your Mac. Scenes, palettes, widgets and sounds are drawn and played locally. Nothing about what’s on your desktop is sent anywhere.
- Your settings stay on your Mac. Vibes, schedules and preferences are saved in the app’s own container on your disk.
- Location is optional. If you allow it, MacScapes uses your location to work out sunrise and sunset for the schedule, and asks Apple’s location service, the one Maps uses, for the name of the place. You can type a city instead, which is looked up the same way. Without either, an estimate from your time zone is used.
- Weather. If you add the weather widget, the app asks Open-Meteo for a forecast using approximate coordinates. No identifier is sent with the request.
- Purchases. App Store purchases are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details. Purchases of the direct download are handled by our payment provider. [TODO: name the provider once chosen.]
- Crash reports. If you share crash reports with developers in macOS settings, Apple may pass anonymous reports to us. We use them only to fix bugs.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The server that hosts it may keep standard access logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and reliability, for a limited time. [TODO: confirm host and log retention.]
Your rights
Because we don’t collect personal data in the app, there is usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete. If you write to us, we keep your email only as long as we need it to help you. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
