Skies, fog and deep space

Six ridges recede into haze under a veiled sun, with fog settling in every valley and a low bank drifting across the foreground. Each layer moves at its own slow pace, nearer ones a little faster, which gives the view its depth. Density thickens the fog, and Fog line raises or lowers where it lies.

Curtains of light fold and shift over a still lake, brightest along the hem and fading as they rise. The water mirrors them, broken by slow ripples, below a far range of hills and a shore of pines. Curtains adds up to three sheets of light, and Stars fills in the sky behind them.

Soft fields of color drift across the screen, slowly swelling and fading like a mesh gradient left running. Each color only blends with its neighbors in the palette, so the mix never turns muddy. Softness smooths the shapes or brings out finer folds, and Fields sets how many share the screen.

Sun, moon and stars follow the Mac's clock over rolling hills: sunrise at six in the morning, the sun high at noon, sunset at six in the evening, with a twilight glow and a golden hour in between. With Follow clock off, a whole day passes every five minutes. Hills sets how high the hills rise.

Clouds of gas glow around a hidden cluster, threaded with bright filaments and crossed by dark lanes of dust. The whole field drifts and turns so slowly it seems to hold still. Dust spreads the gas across more of the frame and darkens the lanes; Stars adds more, a few with faint diffraction spikes.

Billows of cloud run in rows out to a hazy horizon, lit by a low sun that rests just above the deck on the right. The rows drift at their own speeds, the nearest soft and out of focus, while thin cirrus streaks the sky overhead. High cloud adds more cirrus; Sun brightens the sun and its glow.

A black hole seen nearly edge-on: its glowing disk crosses in front of the shadow, the far side is bent into an arc over the top, and the stars behind are pushed aside. The disk turns slowly and burns brighter on the left. Disk widens and brightens it; Stars sets how many shine behind.
